While backing up Salesforce data is a common and almost obvious practice, backing up the CPQ implementation is not that straightforward. The CPQ configuration is a mix of both metadata objects and data records which makes it impossible to backup using a single tool. On the one hand, you can not use data backup tools for metadata, and on the other, you can not use version control for CPQ data records. This leaves operators with no proper way to keep versions of their CPQ implementation.
Regular backups are an essential layer of securing your DevOps process. They protect you in case of system failure and provide access to historical versions, which is useful for auditing, analysis, and tracking. Deployments fail all the time and it’s critical for teams to have the ability to recover quickly and ensure their processes keep running.
That’s why we added Backup & Restore capabilities to Salto–to help our user protect their CPQ implementation with automated configuration backup and stress-free recovery.
In addition to impact analysis, deployments, monitoring, and version control for CPQ data records, we now offer our customers the option of running scheduled backups of their CPQ configurations.
Your entire CPQ implementation, both metadata and data, will be automatically backed up from the first time you connect your Salto org and fetch it. You can schedule backups at your desired frequency: hourly, daily, or weekly. It’s also possible to make an on-demand backup whenever you need one.
If something goes wrong, be it a human error or a malicious change, and you need to restore your configuration, Salto offer two easy ways to do that
One of the customers we recently showed the new Backup & Restore feature to called it “an absolute lifesaver” and we can’t agree more.
Our users make most of the changes to their CPQ data records via Salto. As part of this product update, we added the capability to revert your Salto deployments. Imagine deploying a change and later finding an issue with it. You can now quickly revert this specific deployment without having to manually undo the changes. Simply go to the Compare & Deploy tab, select one or more deployments you’d like to undo, and click Revert. This will undo all of the changes introduced to your org by the selected Salto deployments.
